This third edition of the Journées francophones de la Recherche en Histoire de la Photographie on the theme of Learning through Photography (19th-21st centuries) explores the different uses of photography in relation to a variety of practices and methods of transmitting knowledge — in educational contexts, popular education, children’s literature…

Following a call for papers that closed on November 30, 2023, these Journées, which will be held on April 11 at Le Fresnoy — Studio national des arts contemporains (Tourcoing), and on April 12 at La Cambre (Brussels), are open to the historical and contemporary diversity of uses of photography in the context of various learning practices: history of photography, history of art, visual studies, anthropology, educational sciences, history and theory of law, philosophy, media archaeology, history and economics of publishing. ..

The Journées francophones de la Recherche en Histoire de la photographie are organized by the Institut pour la photographie under the scientific direction of the journal Transbordeur: photographie, histoire, société, in partnership with the Université de Picardie Jules Verne, the Université de Lille, the Université du Québec à Montréal, the Université Libre de Bruxelles, the Université de Namur, with the support of the Institut Français.
